STUDI: Studies for Sustainable Industry (formerly TSE Industry studies)

STUDI stands for Studies for Sustainable Industry. Until 2026 the scheme was called TSE Industry studies, where TSE referred to Topsector Energy. With the end of the topsector structure, the overarching scheme was renamed Energy Innovation and the studies strand continues as STUDI. The substance stays largely the same: funding for studies that prepare investments in climate-friendly industry.

In 2026 the scheme consists of 3 parts:

• CO₂ reduction in industry: €28.3 million
• Hydrogen and green chemistry (GroenvermogenNL): €10 million
• Gasification of residual streams (new in 2026): €7.5 million

The gasification of residual streams strand is new. It funds studies into converting residual streams into reusable gases, either as a raw material or as an energy source — reducing the need for new raw materials and lowering CO₂ emissions.

The most important conditions at a glance:

• Your project contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions in Dutch industry within 10 years of the study.
• Your study falls under one of the 3 parts: CO₂ reduction in industry, hydrogen and green chemistry, or gasification of residual streams.
• You apply for at least €25,000 in subsidy.
• For wage costs of affiliated companies a maximum of €25,000 subsidy applies, unless that company is listed as a participant in the application.

The specific conditions and maximum amounts differ per part and study type. We make sure your application matches the current scheme and the right part.

You can apply for STUDI from 18 May 2026 to 31 March 2027. Applications are handled in order of receipt and the budget is usually exhausted quickly, so start preparing your application in good time.

What kind of activities might that involve?

• Assessing whether your (collaborative) project is eligible for STUDI;
• If so, you get support with writing and submitting;
• Submitting the grant application to the funding body on time and in line with the latest funding legislation and conditions;
• Acting as the point of contact towards the funding body and supporting you in answering any questions;
• If required: setting up the project administration and support with maintaining the grant records;
• Mapping additional funding options and/or the next phase of the project.
