Toolmaker and parts supplier TSD Tooling & Precision stands out in manufacturing by developing precision components and extremely complex tools. This unrivalled fineness is the basis for the ambitious growth targets of managing director Hans Tanger. “We want to grow in the coming years and keep specialising,” he says. To turn that Passion for Precision into innovative products, the strategic use of the WBSO grant is important.

TSD Tooling & Precision develops, builds, tests and supplies cutting and bending tools for highly specific and complex applications. ‘’When customers need tooling for precision work, for example in the automotive industry or for cutting sealing rubbers for consumer goods, they come to us,’’ Hans explains.

A telling example of the impact they make can be found in the world of electric vehicles. ‘’TSD Tooling & Precision makes the tools needed for the latest generation of power modules: the crucial technology that controls the link between the battery and the motor. Customers find that the latest power modules deliver between 5% and 10% more range for electric cars,’’ says Hans. ‘’In this way, extremely precise and in fact minuscule work can make a big difference for end users.’’

Developing complex tools and machines is expensive. Research, development and prototype building bring high costs with them. ‘’To finance these innovative projects, we have been using the WBSO for years. The WBSO reduces these costs and so lowers the financial threshold for us to innovate continuously and build out our specialisation further’’, Hans says. In his view, the right funding partner can make the difference.
