Project teaser

A young technology company with smart material systems, a complex funding application and little time for it: mateligent wanted to use the Forschungszulage (Germany’s R&D tax credit) without slowing its own development. Together with Ignite, it became a structured process with a clear outcome.

What we expected from the Ignite Group was that a process this complex would be simplified for us and, above all, made efficient – so that we do not have to focus our working time on the application, but on what we actually do

The project in detail

mateligent GmbH is a technology-driven company specialising in the development and production of products and systems based on smart material systems.

The company works in the field of modern material and sensor technologies and develops, among other things, flexible, particularly robust silicone-based sensors as well as compact, lightweight actuators based on shape-memory alloys. These technologies enable innovative solutions for a range of applications and contribute to advancing intelligent material systems.

As a young and growing company, mateligent GmbH faces the task of pushing several central topics forward at the same time: developing new technologies, working with customers, and building and scaling its own projects.

Because financing its innovation projects plays a central role, mateligent’s choice was also driven by the good funding opportunities. The application process, however, is often complex and time-consuming, particularly for companies with only limited experience of funding programmes.

For mateligent, the challenge was to deliver the funding application successfully without pulling time and people out of research, development and customer projects.

This significantly reduced the internal workload for mateligent’s team, while leaving enough room to focus on advancing their own technologies and innovation projects. As Julian Neu of mateligent describes it in hindsight, the structured collaboration in particular was a decisive factor: everything was always very well prepared, the meetings ran efficiently, and it was always clear which content had to be ready for the next appointment.

The collaboration between mateligent GmbH and the Ignite Group shows how young technology companies can be supported precisely through complex funding processes.

Structured advice, clear process design and close collaboration made it possible to deliver the funding application efficiently. At the same time, the company kept enough room to focus on its innovation projects.

This successful collaboration forms a strong basis for future projects and a long-term partnership.

Ignite Success Story

mateligent GmbH tells the story

The route to funding and results

  1. For mateligent GmbH, the route to funding took shape in a structured and goal-driven way together with the Ignite Group.

  2. At the outset, the project idea was analysed in order to assess the funding potential and identify the right funding programmes.

  3. Building on that, Ignite developed a suitable funding strategy and then supported the preparation and structuring of the funding application.

  4. The entire process was clearly organised: meetings were efficiently prepared, next steps communicated transparently and tasks clearly assigned.

  5. This significantly reduced the internal workload for mateligent’s team, while leaving enough room to focus on advancing their own technologies and innovation projects.
