SLIM

Within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), promoting the learning and professional development of staff is often not the highest priority. Although professional development of staff is considered important, it often does not happen, for example, due to shortages of time, expertise, or financial resources among employers. The SLIM scheme prevents the lack of time, knowledge and/or financial resources from hindering the learning curve of employees. We are happy to inform you whether it is possible for you to apply for a grant and what conditions must be met.

The project must focus on one or more of the following activities:

• The assessment of the company resulting in a training or development plan aimed at providing insight into the training needs from the perspective of the company.
• Obtaining career or development advice for employees in the company.
• Supporting and guiding the development or introduction of a method in the company that encourages employees to further develop their knowledge, skills, and professional attitude during work.
• Offering practical training positions for a specified period, either for vocational training or as part of the third learning path at a recognized training company.

You can apply for a SLIM grant for multiple activities as described above. The eligibility process is complicated and only a small portion of applications are approved. Due to the popularity of the scheme, a random draw determines the order of evaluation. Projects for which a SLIM grant is applied may only commence after receiving the formal approval letter from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (SZW). SMEs can apply for SLIM grant from March 1 to March 28, 2024 and from September 2 to September 30, 2024.
