The collaboration between Ignite Group and Moekotte demonstrates how companies can successfully realise innovation projects with the right funding expertise. By making strategic use of funding schemes, Ignite Group has supported Moekotte for years in technological development, automation, and sustainability.
Innovation as the driving force for tomorrow’s industry
For more than sixty years, Moekotte has ensured that complex industrial processes run reliably and efficiently. With three locations in the Netherlands, the company delivers smart solutions in electrical engineering and industrial automation, helping major clients increase production, reduce costs and guarantee quality.
A strong example of their expertise is their proprietary software standard, AkvoNova, developed specifically for water authorities to automate wastewater treatment plants. By using validated software, both client and developer know exactly what to expect, resulting in an efficient and reliable system.
However, in this technically complex sector, innovation often goes hand in hand with subsidies. And that is where the right partner can make all the difference, say Arent de Groot, Innovation Director, and Richard Dalhoeven, Manager Engineering at Moekotte.
A long-standing collaboration with tangible results
The partnership between Ignite Group and Moekotte goes back more than 15 years. “We have successfully completed many projects with Ignite Group,” says Richard. “One example is applying for the WBSO scheme. We used this scheme to innovate our production process. This included developing the handling and software innovation around a purchased wire processing machine, enabling wires to be automatically produced and assembled to size without requiring an electrical engineering background.”
A small adjustment leading to significant benefits
Arent adds: “We developed a broad, strategic plan for sustainability and employability consisting of eight components. This includes a strategic vitality policy and a personal wellbeing programme. We believe it is important to invest in our people. With that in mind, we applied for the MDIEU scheme, a subsidy that helps us realise our strategic plans for sustainable employability. Ignite Group critically reviewed our budget and clearly indicated which costs were eligible for funding. We followed that advice, which resulted in a substantial grant being awarded. It shows that Ignite Group continues to add value, even after many years of collaboration.”
In addition to the WBSO and MDIEU schemes, Moekotte also used the SPRILA subsidy to make its vehicle fleet more sustainable. With the support of Ignite Group, the subsidy was successfully used to stimulate investment in charging stations. This enabled Moekotte to make a concrete contribution to climate targets while lowering the financial threshold for the investment. “Ignite Group’s strength lies in translating complex technical material and in the fact that, after many years of collaboration, they know our internal processes inside out. Even with smaller applications like this, our long partnership pays off,” says Arent.
Looking ahead with confidence
For Moekotte, looking ahead means continuing to invest heavily in innovation. Arent explains: “AI will play a major role, both in our internal processes and in the solutions we implement for clients. We make extensive use of available data to make processes smarter and more efficient.” Richard adds: “We also want to take advantage of the latest technologies and materials that will help drive the energy transition, such as energy management systems in industry. Ignite Group can certainly play an important role in this.”
A partner who thinks along with you
“Anyone who wants to make effective use of subsidies should choose a partner who speaks the same language,” emphasise Arent and Richard. “For us, that partner is Ignite Group. They know our organisation inside out and support us throughout the entire process, even when something unexpected happens. That gives us peace of mind and confidence, and it is why we continue to build progress together.”
